Roxie Montgomery was a typical sixteen-year-old girl with divorced parents. Only she did not expect to have to stay with her father for the summer in North Carolina. And she certainly did not expect to meet Peter Cortès. Peter, a recent high school graduate, was working for the summer and getting ready to visit the college where he planned to spend the next four years of his life.
 
Things take an unexpected turn and Roxie and Peter find their happiness in each other.
